Derna, a city of 100,000 that saw one third of its inhabitants perish, another half displaced and most if its dwelling swiped into the sea almost a year ago, is now recovering. What and how has this been accomplished? And how is the geopolitical and finance rivalry between east and west governments influencing its reconstruction? Will the divisions further demarcate Libya into two states or will a new map towards reconciliation, a new government and elections emerge anytime soon with entrenchment of two Libyan dynasties, ruling east and west while international attention is directed elsewhere?
