NCUSLR Welcomes President Biden's Decision To End the Discriminatory Travel Ban.

The National Council on US-Libya Relations welcomes the decision of President Joe Biden, on his first day in office to end the travel ban on citizens from six predominantly Muslim countries, including Libya. This unjust, discriminatory measure was described openly by his predecessor's advisor and attorney as a "Muslim ban".

It imposed additional hardship on Libyans, including officials and activists who were invited to attend conferences in the US aimed at ending the civil war. President Joe Biden'sExecutive Order ending this travel ban is a sign of his commitment to end discriminatory practices and build relations and understanding with the Muslim world.

The Council congratulates President Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris on their inauguration. We look forward to working with the Biden Administration and the State Department, under the leadership of the President's nominee as Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, on ways to finally end Libya's civil war, and bring lasting stability and prosperity to all its citizens.
