“Ethan Chorin: Benghazi!” Webinar

Washington, D.C. Dec 02, 2022.

On the occasion of the publication of the fascinating book

“Ethan Chorin: Benghazi!”

the NCUSLR organizes a webinar on

December 9, 2022, 11.30 am - 01.00 pm EST.

After Ethan’s introduction of his book we will have a "conversation entre amis" between Ethan and other American, Libyan and European “Benghazi-experts” about:

1. What did the stage of the book look like (streets of Benghazi, reaction of the population, panic, communications)?
2. Was it somehow expected? Was it handled well at local, regional and DC level?
3. How did Benghazi drift and impact local politics in the USA?
4. What were the mistakes and have we learned from them?

The panelists are:

  • Dr. Hani Shennib, Benghazino and President of the National Council on US-Libya Relations

  • Dr. Ethan Chorin, author of the book “Benghazi!”

  • Ambassador Gene Cretz, former U.S. Ambassador to Libya 2009-12

  • Abubaker Habib, local contractor at the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi 2012

  • Clemens Reiter, Chief Security Officer, Libyan Cement Company, Benghazi 2012

The discussion will be moderated by Col. Wolfgang Pusztai, Chairman of the NCUSLR Advisory Board. Wolfgang was Austria's Defense Attaché to Libya from 2007 until August 2012.
