NCUSLR Youth initiative (NCUSLR-YI)

"Young people should be at the forefront of global change and innovation.

Empowered, they can be key agents for development and peace. If, however,

they are left on society's margins, all of us will be impoverished. Let us ensure that

all young people have every opportunity to participate fully in the lives of their societies."

- Kofi Annan -

Mission & objectives

Libya's greatest resource is not oil; it is its people. The future of Libya depends on the success of its youth: a well-educated,highly vocal, and energetic generation of future leaders. However, the challenges they must overcome are many.

The National Council on U.S.-Libya Relations Youth Initiative focuses on building opportunities for Libyan youth to connect with each other and their U.S. counterparts to come together to rebuild Libya as a strong, modern, egalitarian democracy

and a global economic player.

Immediate Goals

  • Launch inaugural Virtual Youth Summit to set the stage for the NCUSLR Youth Initiative (NCUSLR-YI), share its mission, and begin a dialogue.

  • Create an online platform for Libyan youth to share their creative work - in arts, science, civil society, and business - with their U.S. and international counterparts. The NCUSLR website and social media will feature one creator each month along with a brief interview on their experience as a young person in Libya.

  • Issue the call to engage Libyan and U.S. youth to create micro-projects focused on arts, civil society, women's issues, and entrepreneurship to raise awareness on the amazing things Libyan youth are capable of building. These micro-projects will serve as the foundation for more robust NCUSLR-YI programs in the future.

Long-Term Goals

  • Provide a platform for open, honest, and inclusive dialogue for the youth of Libya to discuss ideas and solutions impacting their lives and the future of Libya.

  • Encourage creativity and entrepreneurship among Libyan youth to promote economic empowerment, bolster local business, and contribute to enhancing Libya's economy both domestically and internationally.

  • Mentor Libyan youth to develop leadership skills so they may build vital social infrastructure, restore Libyan civil society, and grow today's youth into the leaders of tomorrow.

Bismillah, In the name of God the most Gracious and the most Merciful.

After 2011, our country went through many turning points. Doors that were once closed opened (and vice versa), challenges were realized and crises created. Yet still, we have seen flourishing in our country and the world in the area of entrepreneurship, which creates benefits for societies. We believe that Libya has the right to build a strong and environmentally-friendly economy. An economy that supports the world as it faces major challenges. Accordingly, we have come together as a group of Libyan youth from diverse backgrounds to establish this network of entrepreneurs.

Who We Are

A wide network of entrepreneurs in various fields from all over Libya in cooperation with the National Council on U.S.-Libya Relations

Our Message

The Libyan Entrepreneurship Network seeks to develop the local economy in Libya and contribute to the stability of the society by working to raise the competency of entrepreneurs, exchange their knowledge and expertise, provide them with the best opportunities, expand the network to include entrepreneurs throughout Libya, and promote awareness of the culture of small and medium enterprises as a way to heighten the state’s economy and stabilize its security.

Our Objectives

  1. Create a platform that gathers and connects Libyan entrepreneurs and allows them to exchange their knowledge and experience.

  2. Connect entrepreneurs with consultants and experts - depending on their field of specialization - for mentorship and training

  3. Create new connections between entrepreneurs, investors, community stakeholders and fresh graduates in both private and public sectors.

  4. Organize events, workshops, and conferences to exchange knowledge periodically and raise awareness around entrepreneurship in Libya. This event calendar will culminate in an annual meeting to summarize the year’s results.

  5. Link startups to one another & Push startups and micro-projects by providing free marketing on social media

  6. Seek to harmonize Libyan commercial law and the national market environment; by connecting businessmen and entrepreneurs and providing an incubation period for startup companies.

  7. Reactivate summer trainings for college students at Libyan universities to develop skills that qualify them to fulfill market needs.
