The National Council on US-Libya Relations is pleased to announce that Asha Athman is the National Council on U.S. Libya Relations’ new Program and Communications Associate.
Asha holds a dual Bachelors of Arts degree from George Mason University in Global Affairs and Foreign Languages where her studies were concentrated in international development, Middle East and North Africa studies, and Arabic. She has a strong professional record with over four years of work experience in positions with government agencies and nonprofit institutions including
the Education or Peace in Iraq Center, USAID, and the Roosevelt Institute. Her duties covered a range of topics such as public policy research, knowledge management, blogging, and podcast production.
She also studied and worked abroad for over a year in Morocco and Jordan where she invested time in her Arabic studies and engaged in research and community service activities. We are all confident that Asha will take on her new responsibilities with the same dedication, enthusiasm, and professionalism she has shown in her past work.
As of September 10th, 2018, Asha Athman will be responsible for the following tasks for our council. She will plan and execute communications strategies on all the Council’s communication platforms including reviewing and assisting in updates to NCUSLR’s website.
Furthermore, she is tasked with reading, collecting, and sharing articles from Libyan and international press agencies that cover present-day developments in Libya. Her position also encompasses assisting the Executive Director in event planning, fundraising schemes, and other administrative duties as needed.
