Halliburton to Return to Libya
The U.S. company Halliburton announced on Tuesday, August 27, that it plans to resume its activities in Sirte, Libya soon, due to an improvement in the area's security situation. The announcement was preceded by several high-level meetings between Colby Fuser, Halliburton's Vice President for Egypt and Libya, and figures like Mohammed Ben Shatwan, CEO of Arabian Gulf Oil Company in Benghazi, and Naji Ahafaf, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sirte Oil and Gas Production and Processing Company.
NCUSLR welcomes Halliburton's announcement as a major development in U.S.-Libyan business relationships. We believe this decision will encourage other American businesses to start operating in Libya and contribute to a major improvement in the country's economic performance.
