Former Executive Director
Erin Petrey is a seasoned International Relations and Global Commerce professional with specialized
experience in Libya and the Middle East. She has first-hand experience facilitating cultural, educational, and investment development in Libya and the region. Notably, she was the lead for a program and project management firm that develops large-scale healthcare, higher education, and energy projects.
Erin is no stranger to the diplomatic circle in Washington, DC as she served as the senior Special Assistant to the Ambassador at the Embassy of Libya in Washington for several years, where among other functions she worked to organize the first official prime ministerial delegation of the post-revolutionary government to the U.S. in 2013 and was the lead Protocol Officer for all Libyan Embassy delegations, managing visits for former Prime Ministers, Presidents, Foreign Ministers, and other cabinet Ministers and officials, as well as coordinating Libyan delegations to the United Nations General Assembly, IMF/World Bank Spring and Fall Meetings, and the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit.
Erin is passionate about cross-cultural communications and is especially focused on commercial, citizen, and public diplomacy. She looks forward to utilizing her zeal and abilities in these areas to enhance the relationships between U.S. and Libyan stakeholders. Erin holds an MA with Honors from the University of Kentucky’s Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce, and a BA with Honors from The George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs.
