Strengthening the U.S.–Libya Bridge: A Year in Review
Dear Friends and Partners,
As we close another year of dedicated service, the National Council on U.S.-Libya Relations reflects with hope and responsibility on our continued efforts in advancing informed dialogue, humanitarian impact, and supporting Libya’s long-term stability. NCUSLR remains a pillar that brings together Libyan and American leaders, experts, institutions, and communities with a shared vision for effective state-building.
This year, our high-level platforms such as our annual conference provided one of the few trusted spaces where Libyan political actors, economists, and international experts could openly confront the country’s deepening divisions and explore viable pathways forward.
We also continued strengthening Libya’s under-resourced health sector through high-impact capacity-building initiatives. Through our partnership with Jusoor Al-Tib wal-Ma‘rifa and collaborating teams from the United States, Egypt, and Libya, we delivered advanced cardiac care and training to Benghazi, serving over 150 patients and strengthening local capacity in critical specialties.
In addition, NCUSLR expanded Libya’s cultural horizon. In partnership with the Libyan Heritage House, we supported Libyan-led work to document and restore endangered heritage sites, amplifying the role of cultural preservation in national renewal and identity.
Looking forward, we are investing in the future of U.S.–Libya cooperation. This year marked the launch of the NCUSLR Business Council, creating the first formal platform for U.S.–Libya business networking, responsible investment, and sector-specific guidance. We also reintroduced our Youth Initiative, empowering young Libyans to develop leadership skills, engage civic issues, and shape the future of their country.
And as we look ahead to 2026, we are advancing two additional major medical initiatives:
Launching a women’s cardiology training program in Libya.
Working to reestablish the historic American Adventist Hospital in Benghazi, renewing a legacy of medical cooperation that dates back to 1955.
We are aiming to raise 50,000 USD before year end to support these critical initiatives and the advancement of our mission.
Thank you for standing with us.
